TRAINING WHEELS Sydney 2017 is a one day workshop serving as a how-to guide for the world of exhibitions and all those ready to take the plunge into wholesale.

You will join many likeminded creatives, learning the nuts and bolts of exhibiting as told by the Life Instyle team – a behind the scenes insight into everything you should expect, and plan for, when taking your product or brand to market for the first time. Our expert speakers for the day will then lend their knowledge to you across all the key facets of owning a business; such as social media, marketing, shipping and logistics as well as the return of the interactive panel discussion with Life Instyle exhibitors on hand to answer all your burning questions.

TRAINING WHEELS is for you if you are looking to find your place in the retail industry; and want to be able to have a seamless experience armed with insider knowledge from those who have come before you. The benefits of participating in this workshop also extend to those already in the wholesale industry who may just want a refresher on best practice and are wanting to meet new people to share the adventure with.

    Kylie Lewis
    Founder, Of Kin and Resident Business Blogger for Life Instyle

    Kylie Lewis is our Life Instyle blog digital extraordinaire and the founder of business and content coaching agency, Of Kin. Kylie wholeheartedly embraces a good chat and loves to help brands and people behind them create, build, manage and embrace social media communities. With 15 years of online sales, web project management, digital and content marketing for leading Australian brands, (most recently as digital strategist for kikki.K) she now coaches creative, curious and entrepreneurial businesses interested in starting, evolving or organising their approach to content marketing and social media in a fun, empowering, creative and practical way.

    Marni Clarke
    Founder, Acacia Shipping & Logistics

    It’s not everyday you come across someone with a wealth of experience in Importing, Exporting and Freight Management! Prior to establishing her own business, Marni gained global experience in sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, importing, exporting and freight, across numerous sectors. Today, her passion lies in helping lifestyle brands to import and export with ease and to navigate their way through the minefield that is shipping and logistics! Her mission is to make the process as stress free as possible so that business owners can focus on what they do best!

    Jess Bellef
    Head of Styling, Temple & Webster

    Jessica Bellef's inability to sit still and say no is the reason she is both gainfully employed and in need of a lie down. With a degree in marketing and psychology, Jess's work as a stylist is considered and informed. She began her career as a visual merchandiser in the fast paced world of fashion, where she fine-tuned her eye and the ability to think on her feet. She became the visual merchandiser for Top3 By Design, while quite literally moonlighting in the same capacity for the Westfield group.
    Jessica was approached by the Whitehouse Institute of Design, where she taught and developed the visual merchandising and interior styling specialisations, and was presented with the award for teaching excellence in 2012.
    Joining online retailer Temple & Webster in it's infancy, Jessica has grown with the business to become it's irreplaceable Head of Styling. She has since moved from her inner city Redfern shoebox to a seventies suburban palace in the Royal National Park, where her stylist's affliction for hoarding finally has a chance to take hold.

    Sonya Michele
    Founder & Creative Director, dog&boy

    Leaving the corporate world of banking and consulting after an epiphany bought on by motherhood (or a moment of insanity!), and armed with plenty of commercial know-how but no wholesale experience, Sonya launched dog&boy in early 2016.  With designs inspired by stories of the simple beauty of everyday, dog&boy limited edition scarves are a timeless luxury to make any woman feel stylish and add a practical but gorgeous finishing touch to any outfit, and complement the everyday wardrobe.  Sonya has exhibited twice at First InStyle since launching dog&boy, and joins our speaking panel at Training Wheels to share the good, bad and ugly of her wholesale journey so far. 

    Matt Harris
    Director & Co-Founder, Telegram Co

    Matthew Harris has a long history of entrepreneurship and retail, in his native UK and in Australia. He's owned several businesses, in everything from luxury accomodation to a high-end newsagent. He launched Telegram Co. with business partner Scott Druce in 2008. Since that time they've taken the wholesale business from distributing a single brand to one that now manages over 25 global brands, in both stationery and homewares. Telegram Co. work with over 1,000 retailers in Australia and New Zealand with a staff of 40 people. The business is about to enter an exciting growth phase with the launch of a new in-house developed brand: Milligram by Telegram Co. When he's not working Matt enjoys weekends at his beach house - decked out, of course, in Telegram Co.'s homewares brands!

    Kerri Chadwick
    Managing Director, Bubba Organics

    After working for 10 years in a corporate role Kerri took a break to have children. It was during this time that she discovered a gap in the market for a modern, truly all natural, premium baby skincare brand.  During her 2 years of R&D which included the running of an Online Baby & Children’s boutique and juggling school lunches, pick-ups and drop offs, the Australian made & owned ECO friendly range was born.  Since first launching at Kids Instyle the brand has grown from strength to strength and is now sold in over 130 boutique stores around Australia and moving forward is looking to venture into OS markets.

    Martina Harris
    Founder, Paperluxe

    Martina Harris is a fully qualified chef who undertook many years training at the well-known restaurants in Melbourne as well as spending 2 years studying Interior Design at RMIT and Business Management at Warrnambool Tafe. After a sea-change to the Victorian surf coast, Martina launched the much accredited Scorched Restaurant of Torquay and then proceeded to own and run two food retail outlets, also in Torquay –  Café Moby’s and then Torquay Larder. Martina combined her love of retail and design to open ‘Living in the Laneway’ - a leading local homewares store and quickly saw an opportunity in the market for a high and medium-end range of Christmas crackers.

    In addition to her retail store, Martina launched PAPERLUXE…a brand new wholesale venture, which meant she needed to get to understand the world of manufacturing and wholesale very quickly.
    Martina not only imports products but she sources products from around the world and delivers to her manufacturing base in China for the production of the crackers. 

    This year, Martina now plans to extend her market for the beautifully designed crackers to new countries including United Kingdom, Europe, Hong Kong & and the United States. All this in fifteen years and Martina has still had the time to raise two beautiful boys, now in their twenties.
